STATEMENT
At New Era Dancers, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inspiring space for every student, family, and teacher.
Our Codes of Conduct outline the shared values and behaviors that support ethical teaching, positive learning, and a nurturing artistic community.
These guidelines apply to everyone in our studio — teachers, parents, and young dancers — ensuring that each person feels protected, welcomed, and empowered to grow with confidence and integrity.
TEACHER CODE OF CONDUCT
New Era Dancers — Professional Standards for Dance Educators**
This Code of Conduct outlines the professional, ethical, and safeguarding expectations for all instructors, assistants, and collaborators teaching under New Era Dancers.
Our goal is to ensure a safe, respectful, inclusive, and professional learning environment for every student.
1. Professional Conduct & Ethics

Maintain a professional attitude at all times, inside and outside the studio.

Use respectful, clear, and constructive language.

Avoid shouting, humiliation, sarcasm, or negative comparisons between students.
-
Respect each dancer’s dignity, privacy, and individuality.
-
Serve as a positive role model in behavior, communication, and integrity.
2. Physical Corrections & Appropriate Contact
-
Use physical corrections only when necessary for safe and accurate technique.
-
Ask for consent — verbally or through an agreed signal — whenever possible.
-
Explain the intention of the correction before touching.
-
Avoid sensitive areas of the body at all times.
-
Respect immediately if a student declines physical contact.
-
Ensure all touch is professional, educational, and non-invasive.
3. Physical Safety & Injury Prevention
-
Provide proper warm-up before complex or demanding movements.
-
Teach technical foundations before amplitude, height, flexibility, or virtuosity.
-
Adapt exercises to age, maturity, and experience level.
-
Never force a stretch or position beyond a dancer’s comfort or safety.
-
Stop any exercise immediately if a risk or injury appears.
4. Emotional & Psychological Safety

Foster a supportive, inclusive, and confidence-building environment.
-
Avoid intimidation, favoritism, pressure, or emotional manipulation.
-
Encourage students to express concerns or discomfort without fear.
-
Use corrections that empower, guide, and build self-awareness.
-
Promote resilience without harming emotional wellbeing.
5. Boundaries & Professional Relationships

Maintain clear boundaries between teacher and student.
-
Do not form inappropriate personal or private relationships.
-
Communicate only through approved, professional channels.
-
Refrain from meeting students alone in private, isolated spaces.
-
Report any boundary concern immediately to the program director.
6. Inclusion, Diversity & Body Respect

Treat all students equally, without discrimination of any kind.

Respect body diversity and avoid comments about weight or appearance.
-
Provide adaptations when appropriate for learning differences or physical needs.
-
Encourage dancers to develop confidence through ability, not aesthetics.
7. Privacy, Images & Digital Conduct

Obtain permission before photographing or filming students.
-
Use images only for authorized educational or promotional purposes.
-
Protect student information and maintain confidentiality.
-
Do not share personal messages, photos, or content with students.
-
Maintain a professional digital presence when representing New Era Dancers.
8. Accountability & Communication

Arrive prepared, punctual, and organized for every class.
-
Communicate progress, concerns, or injuries responsibly to parents/guardians.
-
Record incidents when necessary and follow safeguarding procedures.
-
Align with the New Era Dancers Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy at all times.
9. Strictly Prohibited Conduct
-
Any form of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse.
-
Inappropriate, unnecessary, or unconsented touch.
-
Shouting, humiliation, intimidation, or ridicule.
-
Romantic or suggestive behavior of any kind with students.
-
Forcing flexibility, splits, turnout, or extensions.
-
Discrimination, harassment, or body shaming.
-
Using choreography or classroom themes that are inappropriate for minors.
10. Teacher Commitment
By teaching under New Era Dancers, the instructor agrees to:

uphold safe-teaching and safeguarding principles;
-
protect the wellbeing of every student;
-
maintain professional boundaries;
-
act with integrity, consistency, and responsibility;
-
report any safeguarding or conduct concern immediately;
-
embody the values of respect, artistry, and safety in every class.

PARENT / STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT
New Era Dancers — Expectations for a Safe, Respectful & Professional Environment**
This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for students and parents participating in classes, workshops, and programs offered by New Era Dancers.
Our goal is to maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment where every dancer can grow with confidence, integrity, and wellbeing.
1. Respectful Behavior
Students and parents agree to:

treat teachers, classmates, staff, and families with respect;

use positive, polite, and supportive language;
-
avoid disruptive or disrespectful behavior inside and outside the studio;
-
respect studio guidelines, equipment, and shared spaces.
2. Punctuality & Attendance
-
Arrive on time for class and rehearsals.
-
Notify the teacher in advance of absences or delays.
-
Ensure the student is properly dressed, warmed up when required, and ready to begin.
3. Dress Code & Personal Care
-
Follow the dress code appropriate for each class.
-
Maintain clean attire, hair properly secured, and shoes in good condition.
-
Avoid jewelry or accessories that may cause injuries.
-
Prioritize hygiene and safety for everyone in the studio.
4. Commitment to a Safe & Healthy Environment
Parents and students agree to:
-
report injuries, discomfort, or health concerns to the teacher immediately;
-
refrain from attending class when ill;
-
follow safety instructions and corrections responsibly;
-
respect the studio’s Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy.
5. Communication with Teachers
-
Use approved communication channels only.
-
Keep messages concise, respectful, and related to class or student development.
-
Avoid discussing conflicts or concerns during lesson time — schedule a proper conversation if needed.
-
Maintain healthy boundaries between parents, students, and instructors.
6. Digital Conduct & Privacy
-
Do not record, film, or photograph classes without permission from the teacher.
-
Respect the privacy of other students.
-
Only share approved content on social media.
-
Personal messages between students and teachers are not permitted outside official channels.
7. Positive Learning Atmosphere
Students agree to:
-
try their best, with discipline and curiosity;
-
accept corrections respectfully;
-
avoid comparisons, competition, gossip, or exclusion of peers;
-
support classmates and celebrate collective progress.
Parents agree to:
-
encourage their child's learning without pressure, criticism, or unrealistic expectations;
-
avoid coaching from the sidelines or interrupting class;
-
trust the teacher’s expertise and decisions regarding student development.
8. Forbidden Behaviors
The following are strictly prohibited:

bullying, intimidation, or exclusion;
-
verbal aggression or disrespect from students or parents;
-
disruptions during class;
-
entering the studio without authorization;
-
undermining the teacher’s authority;
-
posting negative or harmful content about students or instructors online.
9. Responsibility & Cooperation
Parents and students understand that:

the studio’s priority is safety, wellbeing, and artistic development;
-
respectful cooperation is essential for progress;
-
consistent attendance and attitude influence results;
-
safeguarding concerns must be reported immediately.
10. Agreement
By participating in New Era Dancers programs, classes, or activities, students and parents acknowledge that they:

understand and agree to this Code of Conduct;

value a safe, respectful, and harmonious learning environment;

commit to upholding the principles of wellbeing, integrity, and positive artistic growth.
